7 Reasons to do a Studio Newborn Photography Session

What are the Benefits of a Newborn Photography Session in My Lifestyle Studio?

Now I often spout all the reasons I absolutely adore in home lifestyle newborn and family photography sessions so why on earth would you want to make the effort to come to my Southampton studio for your newborn photography session? Actually, there are many benefits to having a studio newborn photography session that you may not have thought of.

1.) You don’t like your home and it isn’t suitable for a photography session

While I can photograph anywhere and always do my best to capture homes in their best light, sometimes clients just don’t like their home. Perhaps you’re renovating or you really hate the ugly carpet or you are living with your in-laws while you are saving to buy a house and you really just want to do your newborn session somewhere nice, timeless and neutral. My studio is created with all of this in mind, I’ve created a rustic boho oasis of cosy and calm!

2.) My studio is a cosy, warm environment created just for newborn photography sessions

Sometimes houses I travel to are just a bit too cold and draughty for a newborn session and they can make baby quite unsettled. I warm the studio right up and have a little space heater to keep baby nice and happy during your session!

3.) You have access to my entire client closet

When I go to client homes for a newborn photography session I do have to limit the amount of dresses for mum and outfits that I bring for baby. I can only fit so much in my suitcase. However, if you come to the Southampton studio you will have my entire collection of dresses for mamas at your fingertips and all my blankets, bonnets and little outfits for baby in all sizes. A huge advantage of coming to the studio is that it feels like a little shopping trip and styling session!

4.) You don’t have to clean or declutter for a studio photography session

I find when I just have a baby the house is an absolute disaster! It’s always just about survival mode in those early weeks and trying to feed yourself, get some sleep and have a shower take priority! The dishes pile up, clothes are everywhere and clutter collects on every surface. In a studio session you don’t have to worry about cleaning the whole house and can leave it all at home!

5.) Your home is too dark for a home newborn photography session

Very rarely, but sometimes a home can just get no natural light. Once I went to a home that just had tiny port hole windows like on a ship and that made it tricky to work with! My studio has loads of light and is perfect for sessions.

6.) Studio newborn sessions take less time

Studio newborn sessions are naturally quicker as everything I need for a session is within reach. I don’t have to steam dresses as they are already steamed and every little backdrop I photograph in is within the same room. This results in a better organised session for baby.

7.) Pop to Southampton West Quay afterwards

You made it out of the house, you had your newborn session, why not pop to the shops after to pick up some baby bits? I adore Zara baby, Mamas & Papas, Next and H&M for  gorgeous high street baby clothes! It’s worth having a little gander in person to see the sizing of everything.
