What To Pack In Your Hospital Bag When Expecting Baby

What to Pack in Your Hospital Bag When You’re Having A Baby

Congratulations on your upcoming bundle of joy! As you prepare for the big day, packing your hospital bag is essential. But with so many items to consider, it can be difficult to know exactly what should be included in that all-important bag. Here’s a breakdown of the hospital bag essentials you should make sure to pack before heading off.

Clothing Essentials for Your Hospital Bag

When it comes to clothing, comfort is key for your hospital bag. Pack two comfy nightgowns or pajama sets for yourself and at least one outfit for baby that will make him/her feel comfy and warm after delivery. Make sure to include extra socks, slippers, and a robe for yourself as well as a few pairs of newborn diapers and baby grows. A nursing bra is also an important item if you plan on breastfeeding—you may want to invest in a couple of comfortable ones that are specifically designed for nursing mothers. I always recommend overpacking in case your hospital stay is longer, I was in the hospital for 5 days with my first because I caught sepsis and it was so useful to have extra clothes for myself and baby.

Nursing Supplies For Your Hospital Bag

If you plan on nursing your new little one, then stock up on nursing pads ahead of time. These come in handy after delivery when leaks occur during feedings or when milk starts coming in several days later. Portable breast pumps (I love the Elvie) are also great investments since they allow moms to express milk while traveling or away from home without any hassle. Try picking up a few bottles as well since they may come in handy while transferring milk from one container to another or while expressing milk via pump into a bottle before freezing it for later use.

Personal Toiletry Items to Pack in Your Hospital Bag

It’s important not to forget about your own needs during this time—you’re going through major hormonal changes and recovering from childbirth! Make sure you have enough toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo & conditioner, and body wash; these will help keep you feeling refreshed throughout your stay at the hospital. Additionally, don’t forget about bringing entertainment items such as your phone or books (electronic versions are best) along with snacks like protein bars and crackers; you’ll be glad you have them! Finally, make sure your phone charger is plugged in so that you can easily snap cute photos of baby once he/she arrives!

I recommend packing your hospital bag by at least 35 weeks pregnant so that everything is done and organised, I have had many clients deliver early so it is best to be prepared!
